History: Andrea was born in the sunny state of Florida. She was born twelve years ahead of her younger sister, Amy. The siblings had very different upbringings due to their very different personalities, Andrea was tough and strong while Amy was sweet and soft. As Andrea grew, she began to distance herself from her family. She moved away to study law and made countless promises to Amy to come to her birthday parties, those promises were never followed through.
Once Andrea graduated from law school with her long awaited degree, she became a very successful civil rights attorney. Once Andrea was settled in her new life, she took Amy on a road trip. This trip was spend with giggles, pictures and long-awaited bonding.
Unfortunately, on their way back from their trip they were caught within the first signs of the infection. The women were stranded away from home while stuck in what would become their worst nightmare. When scared and at a loss of what to do, Dale Horvath saved the girls and took them under his wing. Later, he would go on to become Andrea's father figure.
Andrea first met Rick and Glenn in a department store as she scavenged around for supplies. She told Rick of her sister and Dale back at their camp and the trio quickly joined the Atlanta Group. Andrea found that she could talk to the people around her, joke and have fun with them. The world was falling to pieces but the group and Amy was what held her together. That was before the night that the Walkers attacked their camp.
It was the day before Amy's birthday when the camp was in chaos. Everyone was trying to protect the children or kill the Walkers, that was why Andrea hadn't seen Amy until it was far too late. Her sister had been bitten and she was slowly bleeding to death. Andrea ran to her side and refused to leave, her heart was in such a place of agony as her younger sister died in her arms. She stayed beside Amy and refused to speak or eat, she knew what they wanted to do but she wasn't prepared to say good-bye just yet. Andrea had placed the golden mermaid necklace around Amy's neck, it was the birthday present that she hadn't lived to see. That was when Amy came back as a Walker, Andrea expressed her love for her sister and promptly shot her in the head. From this moment on, it seemed as if she would never be the same again and to this day, a part of her is closed off due to losing Amy.
Andrea continued to travel with the Atlanta Group until they got to the C.D.C. Here, she tried to commit suicide by staying in the room that was going to blow-up. After Amy's death there was nothing for her to survive for but when Dale told her he was going to die too, she had no choice but to live and escape the building with him and the rest of the group. Although the group became her family, Andrea wanted to leave, to find somewhere to belong and when she overheard Shane speaking to Lorie about leaving, she confronted him and asked if he would take her. Fortunately, this escape never happened.
Once the Atlanta Group found refuge at Hershel Greene's farm, she began to transition from a depressed and suicidal woman to a strong survivor. She began to work on her aim and take lead in the group, often offering to go on missions and showing concern for the others in the group. Finally, she considered them more than just her friends. Of course, this New Andrea led to her having sex with Shane after a mission although it was a one-time thing and she never looked for a relationship after that.
After the barn incident with Shane, Andrea seemed to understand Beth when she began to think about suicide. Andrea knew what it felt like to lose family for she had lost Amy not too long ago at all. Andrea felt as though Beth needed to make her own choice and if she wanted to end her life, so be it. But she hoped that Beth would talk herself out of it, this plan backfired when Beth attempted suicide in a locked bathroom. This suicide attempt also created a rift between Andrea and Maggie's relationship.
When Dale dies from an attack by a Walker, Andrea suffers another important loss all over again. She loved that man as if he had been her father and to lose him meant another piece of her heart broke. But this was nothing compared to the suffering she endured when the Walkers attacked Hershel's Farm.
They were coming from every which way and everyone was trying to fight them off. Andrea was in the midst of killing them when she realized everyone was gone, they had left without her and they weren't going to come back to this infested place. She was left on her own as she ran from countless Walkers, killing as many as she could until she ran out of ammo. Exhausted from fleeing, Andrea collapses and meets her newest ally, Michonne.
Andrea fell deathly ill not too long ago and she advised Michonne to leave her. She was holding the other woman back and she knew that she would die because of her illness anyway. Michonne, however, refused to leave her and they two continued to travel until they were found by travelers from Woodbury. At the shock of seeing Merle alive, Andrea faints.
And this brings Andrea to where she is now, Woodbury. It's a safe little town but now she's alone for Michonne believed that there was something wrong about the town. Andrea enjoys the safety and she enjoys the company of the Governor, whom she calls Phillip. Although she misses the thrill of killing Walkers, Woodbury growing on her. However, when the time comes will she choose to side her loyalty to the Atlanta Group or is she already in too deep with Phillip?
